About Mailchimp

Mailchimp is an all-in-one marketing platform that helps you manage and talk to your clients, customers, and other interested parties. Mailchimp focuses on healthy contact management practices, beautifully designed campaigns, and powerful data analysis. Mailchimp makes your data digestible, so it’s easy to monitor trends, track performance, and create better campaigns as you go.

This help guide will cover:

  • How to set up a Mailchimp account

  • How to connect Mailchimp to Splose

  • The initial sync of clients from Mailchimp to Splose

  • How to sync new clients created in Splose to Mailchimp

  • Viewing Mailchimp information and campaign engagement from the Sidebar

Set up a Mailchimp account

You can sign up for a free Mailchimp account to get started. Plans change, but you can typically have up to 2,000 contacts in Mailchimp before you need to upgrade your account. You can explore the Mailchimp pricing options to see which plan suits your business.

Connect Mailchimp to Splose

Once you are signed in, click Audience from the left navigation menu and then under Manage Audience click View audiences.

Click Create audience.

Complete the details of your new audience.

If you need to be compliant with GDPR, then you can enable double opt-in so that when Splose syncs clients to your audience list, the client will receive an email from Mailchimp asking them to confirm their subscription before being added to the audience.

Then click Save.

Now, you must copy your API key from Mailchimp. The easiest way is to head to Splose, then Mailchimp and click this link:

Click the Mailchimp API key.

Copy the API key and close the tab. Do not share your API key with anyone.

After pasting your API key, you will now be able to select from the list of audiences in Mailchimp.

Click Connect.

The initial sync of clients from Mailchimp to Splose

Your client list will now be synced to Mailchimp. Note that clients that already exist in Mailchimp will not be overridden or "doubled-up" as Mailchimp only allows one unique email address per contact.

If you head over to a client's profile, you will notice that the Mailchimp status card will say "Syncing with Mailchimp". This can take up to a few hours based on the number of clients in your Splose workspace, and syncing is in no order, such as alphabetical order.

Sync new clients created in Splose to Mailchimp

New clients added to your workspace will be automatically synced to Mailchimp. If you add clients manually, it usually takes less than a few minutes to sync to Mailchimp.

View Mailchimp information and campaign engagement from the Mailchimp status card

Once you have allowed enough time, the status card will be updated and the client's Mailchimp details will be displayed, such as email, subscribe status, open rate, click rate, opt-in date and when necessary, unsubscribe reason.

If you hover over a client's email in the Mailchimp status card, you will see that you can click on the link to "View in Mailchimp" which opens up the client's account in Mailchimp.

Now, your workspace is connected to Mailchimp, you can create campaigns right from your Mailchimp account and send it to your clients.
